Glass Cutting & Supply

Glass Cutting

Our team of trained and knowledgeable technicians uses the latest technology and equipment to ensure that your glass or mirror is cut to the exact size, depth or shape you need, ensuring a precise fit. Our made-to-measure service is available for all types of glass and mirrors, except for toughened glass where we can supply pre-cut. At Bedford Glass, Windows & Doors, we understand that time is precious. That's why, for straightforward jobs, we offer a while-you-wait service, subject to glass and mirror availability.

There are several signs that indicate it might be time to replace your glass, such as: misty or cloudy windows, chips, cracks, windows feeling hot during summer, window condensation, frost build-up on the edges, draughts flowing through window frames, or water leaking through frames. If you have faulty or damaged double glazing, or broken glass or mirrors, it is important to address these issues promptly, as they can quickly escalate into larger and more costly problems if left unaddressed. Whether you need a single replacement glazing product we can cater to your individual specifications, regardless of the scale of the project.

We specialise in providing single, double and triple glazing solutions for residential and commercial properties. Single glazing consists of a single pane of glass and is the most basic form of glazing. It is typically used in older buildings or for budget-conscious projects. Double glazing consists of two panes of glass separated by a layer of air or gas, providing increased insulation and energy efficiency. Triple glazing, on the other hand, consists of three panes of glass separated by two layers of air or gas, offering the highest level of insulation and energy efficiency. While triple glazing is typically more expensive than double glazing, it can be an excellent investment for those looking to

reduce energy costs or improve noise reduction. Whatever your glazing needs, our team can help you choose the right solution.

Glass is an essential building material that can be used for many applications. We support several glass applications such as: windows, doors, showers, shelves, table tops, splashbacks, mirrors and balustrades, among others. Each type of glass has its unique properties, making it suitable for different purposes. We use products sourced from reliable, industry-renowned brands to ensure quality.

Here are some of the types of glass stocked in our counter:

Low E Glass

It is a type of glass that has a special coating added to it to reflect heat and light. Low E glass is used to improve energy efficiency and cost savings

by reducing heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. It is commonly used in external doors and windows that are exposed to the sun.

Coated Glass

It is a type of glass that has two panes with a spacer between them to create insulation within the unit. The surface of the glass is then coated to alter its appearance and provide additional benefits such as scratch resistance. Coated glass can be used to reduce glare, reflect heat, or improve sound and thermal insulation. It is commonly used in windows and doors to enhance the energy efficiency of a property.

Patterned/Decorative Glass

It is a type of glass that has a design or pattern added to its surface. It can be used for decorative purposes, as well as to create privacy and control the amount of light that enters a room.

Toughened Glass

Also known as tempered glass, it is a type of safety glass that is four to five times stronger than regular glass. It is made by heating the glass to a high temperature and then cooling it rapidly, resulting in a glass that is difficult to break and shatters into small pieces instead of sharp shards.

Laminated Glass

It is made by bonding two or more layers of glass with a layer of plastic in between. Laminated glass is used for safety and security purposes because the plastic layer holds the glass together if it shatters.

Wired Glass

It is a type of glass that has a wire mesh embedded in it. Wired glass is used for fire-resistant glazing applications because it can contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. Wire mesh glass is a type of glass that has wire mesh embedded within it to provide added safety and fire resistance. The wire mesh provides additional strength and stability to the glass, preventing it from shattering and reducing the risk of injury in case of breakage.

Float Glass

It is a standard glass that is widely used in construction. It is colorless, distortion-free, and serves as the starting point for other practical

forms of glass.

Tinted Glass

It is a type of glass that has a coloured film or coating added to it during manufacturing. Tinted glass is used to reduce glare and UV radiation, manage the climate control of your home or working environment and increase privacy levels. Tinted glass is commonly used in shower screens, external windows, and glass wardrobes to achieve these benefits.

Obscured Glass

It is a type of glass that has been treated to reduce visibility. It can be used for privacy, decoration, or to let in light while hiding the view. It is especially used in bathrooms and toilets, external and internal doors. There are many patterns and effects available in the market to suit different preferences and styles.

Mirrored Glass

It has a reflective coating applied to one side of the glass. It is used for decorative purposes, as well as to increase privacy and reduce glare. It is used in restaurants, bars, shops, dance studios, gyms and around the home.

We can also supply other types of glass upon enquiry such as: acoustic, water or fire resistant, walk on, heat soaked or strengthened, … If you have any specific requirements we are happy to discuss them with you and provide you with the right glass for the right applications.
